The Dream3D Lab<\/strong> is housed at the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht, the Netherlands. By using advanced 3D imaging techniques, they aim to Visualize the Unexpected in their work to understand and undermine cancer. Sustainability is one of the core values of the team and is largely ingrained in their working culture and everyday discourse. They work under their mission: Together, we develop 3D multi-omics, image-based and organoid technology platforms for driving cancer Discovery in a patient-personalized manner. We create unique Art experiences for the public to engage diverse audiences in our scientific mission and core values; Diversity & Sustainability. The eLife Ambassadors programme<\/strong> is a community learning and advocacy programme, which helps early-stage researchers to innovate solutions and work together to overcome the many barriers and issues that their research communities face. It aims to spark a widespread change in research culture, concerning for example equity; diversity or sustainability. Last year, one of the initiative teams created interesting resources about sustainable science that are accessible here<\/a>. This year, the eLife ambassadors will help to organise especially the online part of the SuReSymp. Their involvement will provide a great opportunity to interact with many enthusiastic like-minded researchers from all over the world and work together towards a greener future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable European Laboratories network<\/strong> (SELs) brings together individuals and teams involved in sustainable research in Europe and creates a collective identity that advocates for sustainable research practices across the continent. Through high-quality reporting and the establishment of common standards and goals, SELs<\/a> aims to increase the support and demand for sustainable actions in research. The SuReSymp 2022 team will collaborate with the SELs on organising the event in an environmentally responsible manner. Furthermore, together we intend to collect data about the environmental footprint of both on-site and online participation to improve our knowledge in this area and provide useful tangible tips for future \u2018green\u2019 scientific meetings. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The organisation of the SuReSymp 2022 is funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO, Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) funding scheme Scientific Meetings and Consultations, Domain Science. We are very happy that we can use this support to fulfill the aims of this program, including exchange of research ideas and formation of research communities – in our context towards building a sustainable research community in and beyond the Netherlands. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
